OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

CHIAPA de CORZO

The Sumidero Canyon (Cañón del Sumidero)

The tour typically takes 2 hours. Purchase your tickets directly from the docks in Chiapa de Corzo with one of the licensed cooperatives.

You can also visit the lookout points along the canyon by car or hiring a tour (closed on Tuesdays).

Mercado Municipal y Portales de la Plaza

(The Local Market)

Find a place that sells pozol and make sure it’s cold.

The Santo Domingo de Guzmán Convent

We’re getting married in Chiapa de Corzo, but San Cristóbal is only an hour away and we like it a lot. So, if you get the chance, we recommend spending at least 2 days there.

These are some of our favorite places in San Cristóbal

San Cristóbal is 100% walkable, so take your time going through it. If you get tired, we’re sure you’ll find cafe, chocolate shop or local restaurant to take a break.

If you’re planning on staying more days (which we highly suggest), we recommend you take some of the local tours to the surrounding areas. There are a lot of tour agencies in town and we’ve left the name and contact of the one we’ve used the last 2 times we’ve gone. They offer shared and private tours, and shuttles to and from the airport.
